OCD and PTSD Psychologist in Toronto, Ontario

Dr. Alyssa MacDonald, Psy.D., C.Psych. (Supervised Practice) is a doctoral-level psychologist serving adults across Toronto and Ontario online. She works under the supervision of Dr. Lauren Steinhart, a fully registered psychologist. All sessions take place by secure video or telephone — no travel required.

Alyssa completed her Doctor of Psychology at the University of Prince Edward Island. Her doctoral research focused on supporting LGBTQ+ communities and women's experiences with sexual violence. She completed her residency at Waypoint Centre for Mental Healthcare — a leading forensic and mental health facility in Ontario.

She works with adults who struggle with OCD, social anxiety, general anxiety, PTSD, and depression. She uses evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Research shows these approaches produce strong, lasting results for OCD and trauma (Foa et al., 2005; Resick et al., 2017).

Alyssa tailors every treatment plan to you. She draws on mindfulness, self-compassion, and motivational interviewing to support your goals. No two people are the same — and your therapy should reflect that.

She brings a strong commitment to social justice, inclusivity, and intersectionality to her work. She welcomes clients of all identities, cultures, and backgrounds. Her practice is affirming and non-judgmental.

Above everything, Alyssa believes that real change starts with a strong therapeutic relationship. She builds that relationship with trust, warmth, and honesty. Whatever you are facing, she will meet you where you are.
