Setting boundaries
We offer virtual supportive counselling. It can be a good option for people who aren’t interested in the structure of psychotherapy or CBT. They just want somebody to talk to. For example, maybe you are having a mid-life crisis or a divorce. You want someone to talk to who isn't a friend or family member.

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)?
CBT is a form of talk therapy that has been very well-researched by experts. It will help you to feel better by helping you to look at your thinking and behaviours.
It has proven to be effective in treating a range of mental health conditions, including:
Depression
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
Social anxiety
Phobias and fears (emetophobia/vomiting, animals and insects, blood and needles, claustrophobia, etc.)
Panic attacks or panic disorder
Insomnia and sleep disturbances
Health Anxiety
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or trauma (complex trauma)
Virtual counselling means that you will meet by video (online) or by telephone with a therapist registered in Ontario.
How Many Counselling Sessions Will I Need?
On average, clients start to feel better after 6-8 weekly virtual counselling sessions. Some need up to 12 sessions. If you struggle with depression, seeing a therapist twice per week can often help you feel better faster.
Some people have had mental health concerns for a long time. They may need long-term virtual counseling. This can include work on core beliefs.
Through core belief work, you can examine negative beliefs. They may be about yourself, others, and the world around you. This work may take up to 20+ virtual counselling sessions. But, you can always discuss how often to meet with your therapist. So, if you're ready to take the first step to a healthier mind, consider virtual counselling today. Treatment Components
Assessment: a therapist will meet with you to better understand who you are and what you are looking for. This will start with a free 15-minute consultation.
Psychoeducation involves a therapist teaching you about your symptoms. They will also teach you how to get better.
Cognitive or Thinking skills: the therapist will teach you how to analyze your thinking. For example, is my thinking helpful and is there another way of looking at this situation?
Changing Behaviours: This can include many things. It includes tests of your thoughts, facing fears, and doing valued activities. For example, behavioural activation for depression.
The purpose of relapse prevention is to get you ready for the end of treatment. It's also to start reducing your counselling sessions. Your therapist will help you start being more independent. Maybe, they will help you schedule self-therapy sessions.
