Virtual CBT Therapist in Thornhill, Ontario

Kim Sundal is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with over 20 years of experience supporting children, teens, adults, and families. She provides evidence-based therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health concerns. Kim is passionate about helping people feel understood, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful change in their lives.

Kim’s approach is compassionate, collaborative, and non-judgmental. She understands that reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming. She works to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and comfortable being themselves. Whether someone is dealing with anxiety, depression or parenting challenges, Kim helps them better understand what is happening and develop strategies that work in real life.

Kim uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), one of the most effective and well-researched treatments for anxiety and depression. CBT helps clients identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. CBT replaces these patterns with more balanced, effective ways of coping. Kim also incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT can help clients connect with their values, build flexibility, and move toward the life they want. For clients struggling with anxiety and OCD, she uses Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

Kim believes that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. She takes time to understand each client’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals. She adapts her approach to meet their personal needs. Kim works as a team with each client to find the approach that feels most helpful and effective.

She has extensive experience providing online therapy and has adapted CBT for the online environment. Through secure video sessions and interactive worksheets, she creates an engaging and effective therapy experience that allows clients to learn skills from the comfort of their own home.

Clients often describe Kim as warm, honest, and easy to talk to. She brings a calm and supportive presence to therapy while also offering clear guidance and practical strategies. She believes that therapy should feel like a partnership, and she welcomes feedback throughout the process.
